Yes, sort of... VMWare allows you to boot from a raw IDE partition.
However, VMware presents a different hardware configuration to the
virtual machine than your "real" hardware. Thus, VMWare recommends that
you create a separate hardware profile for the virtual machine; they
have documentation for this on their site. I've seen it work in NT
once, but I also saw that drive get pretty hosed, and I don't know
whether it was VMWare or something else that did it.
