Hi there,

Last Sunday I installed Mandrake 5.3 on the computer of a friend of mine.
Everything was fine, everything worked as expected, except for the modem.
Under Windoze it is connected to com2 (that is ttyS1), so I tryed the same
setting under Linux, but didn't work. Then I tryed ttyS2 and ttyS3, as well as
cua1 to cua3, but still the same message: the modem is not responding. It is a
Boca Research model MV.34AI 28.8kbps ISA. Is it possible that this is a
winmodem? As I understand, just PCI modems are winmodems. Under windoze a
"modem port" must be installed for the modem to work (drivers for this are on
the modem instalation disk), and this "modem port" is connected, as I said
bfore, to com2. Then you can install the drivers for the modem. I've never seen
something like that before. Any ideas?

thanks
