log out, and then switch to KDE using the appropriate box. When you log
back in, you'll get a dialog box asking your password and log-in name.
At the bottom of the same box, you will have the choice of desktop that
you want.
somehow, I got messing around in KDE and managed to pancake GNOMe
stuff atop KDE. What a mess! Anyway, responding to my panicky query,
someone told me to do the following:
kill -9 gmc
You can do this either as root in a terminal window or from the
desktop command line. It works! It works.
