You may be right....the ActionTec was announced in April and
was supposed to be released in June. Alas, by July 1 it still
had not hit the market. Do you know if they have it for sale
yet? The ActionTec uses he Lucent chipset, should be a good
unit. It is expensive and I do not expect to see it included
with any new computers (OEM), although it is possible for a
person to order one from ActionTec -- assuming its not vaporware.
There is one more PCI modem made by Multitech. It is not
a WinModem but still needs special drivers which are only
being released for Windows 95/98/NT and does not work with
Linux.
Thus, for all intent and purposes, PCI=WinModem as of today.
