Hi,

I am facing a strange problem. I recently installed LM 6.0
but the system does not flush its file-system buffers unless
we do it manually by sync or when we unmount the file-system.
I checked the bdflush parameters and found them to be
acceptable. One thing that I found is that the system does not
have bdflushd running and a comment in the inittab said it has
been obsoleted in in 2.2.9 kernel. Instead of bdflushd a kernel
thread 'kflushd' has been introduced. It doesn't seem to work
properly. Any hints. I uncommented the update line in inittab
and now things appear to be fine but what about the kernel
thread.

At my place power breakdown is not a rare thing to happen. What
I observed is that the system leaves all the files to zero length
that were opened for writing after the last manual sync. Please
help. I also do not know about the implications of executing
bdflush with this kernel.

Thanx in advance
Kshitiz
