It's something I only do when I want to move files from my user folder to my /mnt/win_c folder - owned by root. (Prior to transferring them to a udf formatted cd which can only be written to in Windows.) I know enough not to do normal work as root. As I said, this is something that has only started happening recently. I suspect that I have buggered something up.
