Yesterday I was messing with Configuration > KDE > LookNFeel. I think I only altered settings in backgrounds and slideshows, so it shouldn't have been relevant. However, when I clicked 'apply' I got a lovely new background and... a volume control next to my clock! Unfortunately, I lost it soon after. I still don't know what caused either the coming or going, but it must be something in the LookNFeel menu, I'm sure. I'm fairly sure I did nothing else. Anne
