Yes, although the server-utils didn't seem to be installed on the server machine, but 
that is now fixed

Yes

Now when I do the rpcinfo -p I get the mountd as well, but not nfs which should be 
there, what I notice 
when I try to restart the service in Mandrake control center is that it says 
rpc.mountd [Failed] [OK], can this have an effect of some kind?

On a related note, has anyone tried to burn CD-ROM's via NFS and how has that worked?
