Anders. This is the procedure I use to start NFS on Mandrake 9.0 (or 8.2)

First install nfs-utils RPM, then
1/ Define the /etc/exports file
2/ exportfs -ra
3/ On client machine open Mandrake Control Centre>MountPoints>NFSMount Points
(any required RPMS get automatically installed)
4/Press 'Search servers' button. Select the required server, click on '+' to
see shares available.
5/ Press Mount Point button, select a mount point (It will be created for you)
6/Press Options button, select any required options (I normally select 'user'
and 'noauto')
7/ Press 'Mount' button

Thats it done.. when the GUI exits it writes the /etc/fstab file for you.

Subsequently I use kwikdisk to mount/unmount the shares whenever I need them.
(In kdeutils RPM), or usermount ( in usermode RPM)

Note: netfs, nfs and nfslock services should be running

derek
