I do it literally on any distro I work with - directly after the first boot and before I fire up X. I make sure that I do that, I check the bootup log with dmesg, make sure that all dependencies are happy, I make sure that my inittabs are happy, my vid drivers installed (if I can find them), sound is happy, modem is happy, network is happy - THEN I fire up X (and whatever desktop I choose). That way, any aberrations that come are a bit more easily tracked - but hey, to each their own...that's just my way. I don't like to "re-install" for some little minor mistake that I've made... I just find it good practice to "do it right the first time"...if that makes sense... -- Tue Dec 3 12:55:01 EST 2002 .o0 linux user:267497 0o. -------------------------------- | __ __ | khn media australia | / \ /| |'-. | http://kma.0catch.com | .\__/ || | | | | _ / `._ \|_|_.-' | stephen khn | | / \__.`=._) (_ | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | |/ ._/ |"""""""""| | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | |'. `\ | | | icq: 5483808 | ;"""/ / | | | | smk ) /_/| |.-------.| | mobile: 0410-728-389 | ' `-`' " " | Berkeley, New South Wales, AU -------------------------------- Coralament*Best Grtens*Liebe Gre*Best Regards*Elkorajn Salutojn You will have good luck and overcome many hardships.
