Wondering if anyone can help us out. My buddy's sister bought a new Toshiba Satellite (1410-s173) which includes an integrated GeForce4 go MX420. Problem: after loading nvidia drivers and making the necessary changes to XF86Config-4, the display resolution in X defaults to 800x600, in other words, it only fills a small part of the display. Using the "stretch screen" option in the bios, we were able to get it to cover more of the screen but the quality sucks and it is still about an inch off center so there's a large black area on the right of the screen. Also, with "stretch screen" turned off, when you shut down X, there is no output to the display. So no command line. you can type startx or reboot and get your command to go. If we re-enable "stretch-screen" we don't have that problem. The default mandrake settings seem to run fine, but we'd really like to have the 3d chipset enabled. We've tried a few from the Nvidia readme, but nothing's helped so far.
Changing resolutions in either drakconfig, or directly editing the XF86Config-4 file, seem to change nothing. It's like the nvidia driver is overriding our settings. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
