Hi Rob, 
Abiword can be had from the "contrib" section of any Mandrake mirror. I am assuming 
you are using Mdk 9.0, if so you can find Abiword and plugins here:
ftp://ftp.rediris.es/pub/linux/distributions/mandrake/9.0/contrib/RPMS/

You can add a "contrib" source to your Software Installer with Software Sources 
Manager, then install using urpmi. Contrib contains a lot of good stuff.
