I still would like to know just what could have caused this, if anyone has any

other of the f1 route options that has got me back on desktop. I have a feeling it is
more than a fsck , I 'm purly guessing that in the boot process the system finds something
amiss between the kernel and the bootup and needs in some way to
compare notes and clearup the confusion, having done that all returns to normallity
and you don't think about it until next time which can be tomorrow, or 6 months later.
