Ah, that was it. My /etc/hosts file looks like this:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.1 darkforce.ky.org darkforce
192.168.0.2 darkforce2.ky.org darkforce2
192.168.0.3 darkforce3.ky.org darkforce3
Without the additional entries, nothing works - like you said. :-)
