Since the camera is a storage device, it might be. I would guess that it isn't recognising the filesystem type.

I think you have it there anne, the camera uses some newer type of filesystem type,
which is why it is not currently working in linux as a mass storage device.

I also get a shutdown script warning " nmb services failed" what is this
about ?

nmb is Network Message Block, partner to smb, or samba.

So nmb is basically to do with networking and all I need to do is shut it down in
some way.


I've now got a working printer of sorts. The kde - system - printer configuration
windows seems to of gone, anyway it ain't part of kde control center any more.
I used MCC - hardware - printer to set up cups and foomatic etc, but there it
made a bit of a hash of choosing a driver, effectively it chose without option the
least best driver in ghostscript, still I found a trick is to use say kword to
put up a printjob, select printer and squeezed inbetween printer and properties is a
little tab which allows you to add a printer and set up a drive, and configure the backend
and using that ploy all went reasonable well, all 4 available drivers were set up. There
also appeared to be a page margin facility .

One further disappointment is that Xsane appears to of gone backwards for me with
my epsom 2400 , it don't work at all. and M9.0's was so easy to set up and run. I wonder
whether the cooker updates might help here. In M9.0 xsane could not be faulted.

Tomorrow I will start tofigure out all the urpmi cooker update stuff Tom Brinkman
has written to us about.

There were a few moments when I nearly gave up, but notwithstanding that, the
easy way , via dual booting, one can mess with the cooker on one OS while maintaining
a fully working Os on another makes for a bit of fun. I would recommend the
experience.
