Anders, I can't comment about command lines but I've seen this with other pieces of software. Usually, when I lose something here, and it won't restart its because its not completely dead. You can do a "top" or <control><esc> to bring up KDEs' System Guard and see if part of that process is still running. If it is, just kill it, then restart your app.
Works for me here. :-) top won't work since i can't write anything in the commandline and I have as little KDE installed as possible, but then again this is a Compaq-box we are talking about LOL. I should perhaps also add that starting a terminal is no problem but it kinda hangs and no commandline comes up /Anders
