Er, sorry for posting to my own message (bad form and all that!) but I needed
to update this. I installed Gnomemeeting and it worked, sort of. I went to
its prefs screen and found that it was using /dev/video1. So I removed the
link from /dev/video -> /dev/video0 and relinked it to video1. Now, gqcam and
gnomemeeting both work, sort of.
"Sort of" equals a very bad picture. Completely red and very dark in
Gnomemeeting, only B/W with the picture split into 3 small displays and a
grey band in Gqcam. Framerate seems fine in both. I did try to use settings
in both apps to change things but no go.
Anyone have any ideas? I bought this camera used off of Amazon.com - reckon I
got a bum steer? I did get the Windows CD with it - I suppose I could install
it on one of my sons dual-booting comps to see if it is just a Linux problem
or something wrong with the camera (hope not).
Thanks everyone.
