Hi Harv,

I am running MDK 9.0 on a 450MHz AMD K6-II processor at home, with 3 NICs. One is connected to the ADSL line, others are configured as a LAN bridge and connected to W2K/XP machines. This system was up and running in an hour including samba and printer sharing and works great without any problem. Now this server works as a mail server for the family, an SMS gateway and a host for ALEX, an authomatic 144MHz sporadic propagation alert system.

I'm sure SHOREWALL/MDK can be configured, what I am missing is the relevant information on DC.

I tried SuSE and REDHAT, spent sleepless nights with a crapy system.

A hw ADSL is router is great, but not an option for me.

Best regards, 73... Bela, HA5DI

I also tried to set up connection sharing for ADSL and the shorewall on this
machine (MDK9.0). "Pissed Off" is just a mild description for my feelings of
frustration. My solution was to purchase a D-Link DI-604.

http://www.dlink.com/products/broadband/di604/

The thing contains an embedded firewall/router accessible with any browser and
4 Ethernet ports. Cost $(us) 45, UPS delivered. What is your time and
sanity worth? Plus, you'll be able to build a decent server with the machine
you were going to use for a router/firewall ... or better use the machine to
run HF PSK/Amtor, etc
