Thank you, Derek. I was wondering why I was getting the message "permission 
denied" when logged as root. I was installing Java and they only give it to 
you in bin format in the place I was directed by Netscape. Maybe I didn't 
look in the right place, but I was mainly concerned with downloading the 
right package. It's installed now. Maybe I should stop. I want to go up to 
9.1. I'll post for advise as it seems there is some issue with the NVIDIA 
cards.
