The v4l module is an XFree module that should be loaded by the XF86Config-4
file. Here is the applicable section from mine:
Section "Module"
Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension
Load "v4l"
Load "extmod"
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
Load "dri" # needed for VooDoo3 driving second head
Load "glx" # 3D layer for GeForce3
EndSection
Check the contents of your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and see if it is trying
to load v4l, if not, add it.
