You can still use those 57 GB, it depends on how you want to use it.

If you want to use it for Mandrake, Diskdrake in Mandrake Control Center
will allow you to create partitions and mount them. The type of
partition is really up to you, but I guess use whatever you are using
right now for Mandrake (ie. Ext3, ReiserFS, etc.  see MDK Control Center
under Mount Points).

If you want to use the 57GB for Windows *or* for both you can use the
Windows XP administrative tools to format the 57 GB as FAT32, then both
MDK and Win will be able to use the space.

Windows (deliberately?) cannot see Linux partitions or use them. As for
what type of partitions to make, FAT32 will allow *both* systems to see
and use the partitions, whereas if you format the 57GB as Ext3 (or
whatever you use in Linux (again, see Mandrake Control Center under
"Mount Points") then only Mandrake will see the partitions.

you definitely don't need to reinstall! Yes, you could make 2 partitions
if you wish, same as above applies.
