seriously? move it to the middle connector on the cable? i can do that! i've already swapped the internals from one case to another and managed to eventually get my 2nd hard drive installed and succeed where my friend failed (in getting the primary ide channel to work on the motherboard). from what i had been told, the master went on the end of the cable, not the middle, but i'll move it to the middle connection when i open up the box next (which could be in 20 minutes, could be in the morning). hey, can't hurt, considering there's only one thing on that cable anyway. thanks...i'll give it a shot!
