This is why when compiling from source you need to become root to do the make install step of the installation. I don't know much about proxy's except i don't like them personally but i would think its not to hard for them to do something for you. You only need root access to the computer you wish to do urpmi on so if you can access the net as root you sould be able to use urpmi. Is it your isp that has this proxy or is it on your network or are u on a computer where you dont have root access ?
