I have two doubts here: 1) what this command fdisk does? I tried to figure out by XPs prompt, but the program doesnt exist... 2) what is MBR?
thanks
Thigao
The fdisk/mbr command is a DOS switch command and it removes lilo from your MBR, master boot register , which is a small secret partition at the very beginning of every hard drive.
If you have XP there is a way to do it from an XP console but I cannot
remember just now. Most of us use an old W9x boot disk and run it to the
A: prompt and issue fdisk/mbr. If you don't have one , take a look on
the net there is usually something someone has to download and while
they may not be a perfect hardware fit they are good enough to do a lilo
delete.
