I e-filed, have for about the last 3 years. My older brother used to work as an auditor for the IRS and he told me once that e-filed returns usually get less scrutiny than printed or written returns. The assumption is that math errors and the like are less likely since they are culled out by the software. However, I expect that the IRS trusts electronic stuff more because the computer applications are simply not programmed to do as many funky things as you can do manually, it makes the creative accounting stuff less likely. Not that I am necessarily worried about audits, my filings are fairly conservative anyway, but I don't mind a little expense to avoid the hassle factor. -- Bryan Phinney Software Test Engineer
