Sorry for the late of my answer, I had no time to write before... and to tell the truth I don't even think my answer will be helpful... I used mandrake with this card only for a short time and even if you could here some nasty noises mostly it worked fine with the oss driver. I got to make my card work with the hint I gave you only by tries when I installed alsa for the first time on my Slack and since then I always do the same... but I really don't even know WHY it works for me :)
