I don't think you'll find a lot of expertise on this, Gideon. Most of us are going the other way ;-) However, I would suggest that the first step would be to find out what import filters there are in thunderbird. Also, it would help, I think, for you to check whether you are using mbox or maildir format in kmail. Of course there's always the possibility of just using them as text files.
