Just a wild guess... the panic message refers to an interrupt problem. I've seen plenty of past messages on this list about APIC settings causing problem, and APIC stands for the "Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller". So I would try messing around with the APIC and LAPIC (Local APIC) settings, turning them off if they're on or on if they're off and see if it helps.
