I am answering this for the last time.. (i realize your new, so know it's
nothing personal)
Create the rescue floppy from images/rescue/,
boot with this disk and "cat /proc/pci",
identify in this output the "unknown mass storage controller",
there will be two of them,
write down the the irq and io's of each.
If your cdrom is on the highpoint controller you'll need to create the
floppy from images/cdrom.img
Now your ready to boot the install,
at the syslinux prompt enter "linux ide2=0xHHHH ide3=0xHHHH"
(0xHHHH, being the first io of each ide port we wrote down. If it gives
you any trouble, you'll need specify all the info)
Everything else is per the install guide untill we get to lilo
DO NOT skip boot disk creation, I repeat DO NOT.
Heres the fun part thats going to be different for each machine depending
on the layout of the discs. You may need to adjust the bios before
installing, or it can be done after as long as you have the bootdisk.
With a HD on the primary master (ide0->hda) lilo shouldn't require
anything special.
With only a HD on the HPT, set the boot sequence to "A,EXT,C" (ext must be
before c, is the rule), and set the EXT boot from scsi to dma66. The
lilo.conf will need
disk=/dev/hde
bios=0x80
