Nope. However, you may have a bad installation. I'd spend a
couple dollars and get a "cheapbytes" CD
(www.cheapbytes.com) which is pretty much known to work
well.
Another thing you can try is type "linux 1" or "linux
single" at the LILO prompt. This puts you in single-user
mode (like Dos/Windows) and will allow you to change the
"root" password. To change a password, type "passwd
<username>" at the command-line prompt. In this case,
you'll type "passwd root" (minus quotes) and hit "enter."
It'll come up and ask you to enter the new root password
twice. Be sure you know EXACTLY how you enter it, as "U" is
not the same as "u" to Linux.
Also, please lose the HTML. It doesn't look nearly as nice
on our systems as it does on yours, it's a waste of
bandwidth and it's hard to read, because many/most of us on
these lists do NOT have html-compatible mail readers.
