Yes, there are other methods but this would work

During install from floppy MDK 7 will ask if it can copy addidional
information to the boot floppy, then reboot.
After installation check  syslinux.cfg on the floppy. there should be lines
like
" append  ramdisk=32000 initrd=hd.rdz mdkinst hd ide2=0xb000,0xb402
ide3=0xbc00,0xc002"
ensure that /etc/lilo.conf contains the "ide2=etc and the ide3= portions
