Hi - Now that I have my mandrake boxen pretty well working the way I want them to and have learned barely enough to stay out of trouble, I'm trying to get out of the bad and dangerous habit of logging in as root. Most of the time this is no problem - if I need to run, for example, klilo or kpackage, I can open a konsole window and run it from there. But what if I need to run something that I normally run from the K menu, and I don't know the name of it? There must be a way to be root without just opening an konsole or xterm. I saw a menu item called kde su (kcmkdesu), but running kd esu from a minicli doesn't seem to do anything, and running it from the K menu only lets me change some settings. The help screen for kde su is useless (to me anyway) ... There's gotta be a good way to do this, and everybody knows it but me :-) dave w
