Finally figured out the root of my sound problem. Apparently my Netgear PCI (jumperless) NIC and my Crystal Sound onboard sound card use the same irq/DMA/IO. I reformated last night, used sndconfig to set my sound at diff irq/dma/io's. Then turned on the nic. Had sound and internet. Rebooted today to do some windows stuff. Came back to linux and no sound.
