[newbie] Kernal compile

How do you re-compile the kernel in Mandrake 7.0. With my previous RedHat
6.0 I would go into /usr/src/linux and type:

>make xconfig or make menuconfig

and then carry on from there.

When I do this with Mandrake 7.0 I get the following:

make: ***No rule to make target 'menuconfig'. stop
