why do you want to upgrade x to 4.0?

what is this upgrade you speak of...? 

why upgrade something that works fine...?
most of the time...I've found that if I try
to upgrade...lets say...using a i386.rpm..
in mandrake which is i586....it practically messes up everything.
this could be your problem...
