Yo Andrew,
Your problem may not be a "kppp" problem at all. If you can use other
networking protocols, the problem can be one of or both of two things. DNS IP
configuration incorrect and something is wrong with your browser. In my
opinion, I believe it to be your browser alone. If you cant FTP to a site
using the site name such as:
ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/I-WANT-THIS/doc
the problem is not with your DNS as FTP has just demonstrated that it is
working fine. The problem is in your upgrade of Netscape. What I found the
problem to be is this; Your Netscape RPM and upgraded Netscape tarball are not
on the same wave length. What I mean is this. Your "old" netscape RPM has a
file that your Netscape icons link to that uses a "app-default" file to point
it to it's resources. I found the "apps-default directory after I had
uninstalled the "old" Netscape RPM using Kpackage and then reinstalled
Netscape using the Netscape tarball. The only problem with this method is that
you are forced to make changes to your icons that point to netscape in their
properties.
I loaded my Netscape tarball to /opt/netscape.
Which means that in the properties I had to point the icon to ;
/opt/netscape/netscape
This solved all of my Netscape woes and allowed me to be able to properly
download and run plugins correctly like Shockwave, xanim, and the such.
Try this. if it doesn't work for you whch I doubt that you'll have a problem,
just reinstall the "old" netscape from your distro.

What I have heard is if you aren't able to open anything else up then you do
not have the correct DNS numbers in there.
