Hi,
I have a Soundblaster Live! card. In 7.02, as long as I downloaded and
installed the most current driver from the Creative Labs opensource
site, my sound worked great - could play CDs, wavs, mp3, etc..
In 7.1beta3, with the updated drivers, I can play CDs, but no system
sounds (wavs) and so far, no MP3s. When I run the sound configuration in
DrakConf (in the hardware section) the card is properly identifed, and
the test sound plays fine - I have finally gotten confirmation on the
proper pronunciation of "Linux" :-)
However, still no system sounds - I have system sounds enabled in the
KDE control sytem, but no tests play. For a while, no mixers would play
- either aumix or kmix, but now thay are - frankly, I don't know why.
But those apps show the volume and settings are all fine. Searching thru
the mail archives, I saw others having similar problems, but couldn't
find any post with a solution. Any suggestions on what else I can try
would be appreciated.
One great thing about 7.1 - it recognizes all my removeable devices -
CDRW, ZIP drive and floppy - 7.02 didn't !!
