1) Did you disable an existing port on your computer... I.E. COM1 or COM2
prior to installing the modem? If not you are better off doing this!

2) Set the modem up to use the same COM port as the one you disabled. Do
this in HARDWARE... with jumpers.

3) No jumper? Hmm... do you have a Winmodem/PCI. With one or two exceptions
all Winmodems are not currently supported under Linux. This is not a problem
with Linux, rather with the modem.
