Hi Sandman,
Chances are real good what you have here is a
winmodem, i.e. junk that won't work with linux.... I take it that your
modem is a internal model, if this is the case be advised that most
current internal modems are winmodems. Winmodems utilize software based
compression routines, as where very few internal,and all external modems
do compression in the hardware.... As it stands right now what you need
for linux is a "hardware" modem.
The software compression routines used by winmodems are propritary to to
maker of the modem,and thats the rub...
For winmodems to work in linux you have to convince the maker of the
modem to write drivers for linux.
