Hi Folks * Thanks for your list, very informative. Have been reading for a couple of weeks but no mention of parallel connected modems * Have not rec'd my Linux Mandrake power pack yet. It will probably be the 7.0? ver as things take time to get to South Africa. *Currently modem conn' thru Windows98 via lpt2 (HP895+scanner on lpt1) to Celeron 333 on Gigabyte GA-6VA Via Apollo Pro AGPset Pent 11/111 *When I auto install is there any special action I need to take to install modem to lpt2 (lp1)? * Will ver 7.0? detect my modem on lpt2? - as parallel connected? * The Deskporte will also work as a serial connected modem to com2 or whatever (tty?); I just reverse the connecting cable to the computer box. * I can therefore set modem up as standard serial extl Microcom 28.8P modem in Win98 and use as serial modem in Linux Mandrake; would this be the preferred installation method for Linux.
