You may need to do nothing more than to turn up the volume. There is a
speaker looking thing in the tray ot KDE desktop, on my system it is on
the bottom of the  desktop, that you can click on and you should see a
series of slide controls. The one on the left side is for the overall
desktop sound. Turn it up. Again, sorry if I am stating the obvious to
you, hope this helps.  Dennis
