Also, I have set up my Powerbook to run Debian Linux and connected 
through DSL no problem, configured automatically.  The host name I 
used for that was the default bame 'debian'.

But I now think maybe somethings up with my ethernet hub, so I'll try 
plugging DSL modem straight to computer.
