[newbie] music software

Hello newbie,

  Hey, I am in love with the penguin however, i have recently been
  forced to dual boot because of the lack of music production software
  for linux.  I use Cool edit in Windows and it crashes and is slow,
  so on and so forth, but I have found nothing close to it in Linux.
  Does any one out there in Mandrake land know of anything ?
