I do not know the pro's and con's of Cool Edit, but when you go to
www.linuxapps.com and select 'multimedia', there is a lot of music
software. Next step is to visit linux.tucows.com and look for the music
and multimedia sections in X11, KDE and GNOME divisions. Again, you will
find a lot of software that might be of interest to you.
