The HCF in the modem identification, I believe indicates that you have a
"software modem" more commonly known as a "winmodem".  It is very likely NOT
going to work in Linux.  I strongly recommend getting an external
(USRobotics).  If an external is not in the cards, then get a jumpered ISA
modem.  Most (though certainly not all) PCI's are windmodems.
