At the risk of getting flammed!!!
I had this problem with an Epson Stylus colour a while back.
Test pages where fine but other stuff was quite a bit lighter
in density.
Turns out that it was a cartridge fault of some kind!!
Replaced the cartridge and all was solved.
Worth a try??
