Yeah,  I had that problem once before.   I tried installing 4.0.1 into the
Mandrake 7.1 and I had that same font error you were describing.  So I
waited for the Mandrake 7.2rc to be release as 4.0.1 as the default.   I had
approach with another problem.   There were a server crash due to the
conflicting i810 and 3DFX.   It couldnt make up its mind to which to use so
it disregarded the PCI version of 3dfx and it used the i810.  However, I
disconnected the PCI and it worked just fine.  a lot better than than when I
had the 3.3.6 version of XFree86.  It display up to 16 bits instead of 8
bits.  3dfx display up to 32 bits which I wanted to use.  Hopefully by 4.0.2
the bug will be fix with the problems of pci version of 3dfx and i810
conflict.
