Hi Ronald and all,
  Oops, in my tired state I didn't recheck the dos option from grub after changing the
hd opt and idebus=66, win now boots after I went into 'safe mode' and
 rebooted( (c) win :-). Although, for learning purposes, does anyone know what's not
right with my windows option from grub. is it table=/dev/hdc?? hda??
Also what is 'map-drive' as this was all preconfugured by the install.

other=/dev/hda1
        label=windows
        table=/dev/hdc
        map-drive=0x80
           to=0x81
        map-drive=0x81
           to=0x80

Ronald,
  The idebus=66 goes in your /etc/lilo.conf under append.
from my last mail:-
[snip]
image=/boot/vmlinuz
        label=linux
        root=/dev/hdc6
        initrd=/boot/initrd.img
        append=" hdd=ide-scsi idebus=66"
        read-only
[snip]
the 'hdd=ide-scsi' is because I have a CD burner which needs scsi emulation
So make the change to /etc/lilo.conf and as root run 'lilo'.

Doug H.

I've asked this before, but did not get an answer; where in Grub do you put
that "idebus=66" line?

Thanks!
