I've up-graded to KDE 2.0 and am pleased with the performance it gives.
I've still to solve a few mysteries, however: (documentation seems to be a
mix of old and new version comments at this early date ...)

1. My earlier version of KDE had a slick and simple way of managing
themes. Within the theme manager you merely hit the browse button, pointed
at the .tar.gz file containing your theme and clicked on install. Done! A
nice thumbnail preview was even offered.
Am I right that no theme manager is included in KDE 2.0? I have
done detective work and discovered the directories into which I need to copy
.themerc files and .png files (no thanks to the documentation), but this is
nothing nearly as smooth as the old theme manager.
2. System Sound is still a mystery. I've found where you assign system
event sounds (well hidden!) but haven't gotten them working yet. Everything
works independently (Kmedia player plays .wav files when I point to them in
Konqueror, cdplayer works, mpeg player works with sound, ...) -- just can't
get those cool sounds to work when I zoom windows around the screen or login
and logout.

What have I failed to find?

Mike
