[newbie] Modem Question

Dear techies,

I am running linux mandrake 7.2 complete edition.  I have a US Robotics 56k
Voice Win modem that is hooked up internally and is running on com 2.  Please
let me know if this modem is compatibly with the operating system or any
other linux os's.  
If it is, please provide some information or a link to information where I
can learn how to configure it.  
If it is not, please let me know what the best kind of dial-up modem is for
linux.
